Find me back on Blogger!

I’ve decided, after a long break, to switch back to my old blog.  I know, I know, it’s confusing, and whatever, but I just can’t get over how hard of a time I have uploading pictures to this stinking blog!  Which is a bummer, since all my business cards link to this blog.  Not cool.  But, for future reference, find all Gillyweeds posts back on Blogger:

Holiday Traditions

Our family has a host of holiday traditions, some of them pretty typical, some not so much.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles

For Thanksgiving, we always watch Planes, Trains and Automobiles, starring John Candy and Steve Martin. Total holiday classic. Then we have our own little family get together, and after that, head out for the in-laws. There, we play hearts, stuff our faces and just chill.

Christmas in the post-War United States

At Christmas time, we decorate the tree, watch every holiday movie that’s on, especially It’s a Wonderful Life, and everyone gets to pick a new ornament for the tree. Eventually, the ornaments will go on with the child who picked them, to start their own family’s Christmas tree decorations. As always, we get a visit from Santa, then head out to the in-laws, and play more hearts and stuff our faces some more.

We are so blessed to have the ability to celebrate this holiday each year with family, and to live in a place where we are allowed to be open with our faith and with our traditions. That’s definitely something to be thankful for!

What are your holiday traditions?
